In addition to teaching, she has been judging dance competitions for many years. She says, “Being a judge has given me the opportunity to see exactly what judges are looking for, to stay current with latest trends and to understand the judging procedures.” She continuously passes this knowledge onto her students in hopes they will have the best competition experience possible.
Miss Jamie was also the head coach of the Worcester State University Dance Team in which she was given the opportunity to choreograph open jazz routines to compete at the UDA College National Dance Competition in Orlando, FL. In 2016, some of her GDA students participated in the WSC dance team show. This was a great experience for them to see what dancing on college dance team entails.
Miss Jamie is certified to teach by Dance Educators of America and continues to enhance her dance education by participating in classes at Boston Ballet, Jeannette Neills Dance Studio and local dance conventions.
Miss Jamie wants to tell her students, “They call it dance. I call it life”. She says, “I have been dancing for 35+ years and never thought I would be spending most of my free time in a dance studio. I cannot imagine my life without dance and hope to continue to inspire my students for years to come!”
Thank you Miss Jamie Caruso for all that you bring to Greendale Dance Academy!
