Teacher Spotlight Miss Katie Foley

Miss Katie Foley GDA Teacher

Miss Katie Foley is also an accomplished singer and performer.

[fblike]Miss Katie Foley began teaching at GDA in 2013. Since then, she has taught a variety of recreational and competition classes from our littlest dancers through our oldest. Her dancers and choreography have received many high scores and judges’ awards including an overall best choreography award last year. Miss Katie also teaches during our summer dance, and will be helping to direct our first ever musical this summer!

In case you haven’t heard her in class, Miss Katie is also an accomplished singer and performer. She found her love for musical theater at a young age which led her to perform throughout the east coast as well as in England, Spain, Prague, and Austria. While in college, Miss Katie was invited to sing at Carnegie Hall (twice!).

In addition to performing, Miss Katie helped to direct/choreograph “Godspell” at Saint John’s High School and “At the Bandstand” at West Tatnuck Elementary School. Miss Katie continues to take workshops and frequent trips to NYC to catch the latest in musical theater.

While teaching at GDA, Miss Katie has been pursuing her Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology and graduated this past May. She plans to work with children and knows the education and experience she has received will only enhance her skills at the studio.

Miss Katie also volunteers with the Be Like Brit Foundation. She has been to Haiti and brought her love of children and dance to Brit’s Home.

If Miss Katie could give one piece of advice it would be to “dance your little heart out!” Miss Katie’s dad told her this every time he dropped her off at dance (…and continues to say this when she heads off to teach)!
