April Vacation- We are planning to hold Zoom classes over the April Vacation. With most schools cancelling their vacation, we feel it just makes sense to continue to dance next week. And it will be SPIRIT WEEK!
Mismatch Monday – Who can mismatch the best?
Twin Tuesday– See if you can TWIN with someone in Class!
Wacky Wednesday– dress in a crazy outfit!
Throwback Thursday – Wear an old Dance Costume
Spirit Friday – Wear something with GDA on it to class!
Crazy Hair Saturday – Who will have the craziest hair?
Guest Speakers Next Week- We are lucky enough to have 3 Alumni Guest speakers next week who will share their experiences of where dance has taken them. Links to these will go out to our High Schoolers shortly. Here is the lineup:
Monday 7:30pm – Auditioning Skills from Miss Danielle who is currently performing at Walt Disney World.
Tuesday 6:15pm – Dancing on College Dance Teams from Miss Morgan who is currently dancing at Stonehill College.
Wednesday 5:30pm – Teaching Elementary School through Dance from Miss Moranda who earned a Dance Education degree and uses dance to teach concepts in her classroom.
April Tuition- Thank you to everyone that was able to pay. That has helped us to continue paying our teachers while we are temporarily closed. If you are unable to pay, there will be no penalties or late fees but please continue to have your dancer participate in the Zoom classes. We want everyone to keep dancing! A number of questions have come up on how to pay online. This can be done through the parent portal which is linked here. Login using your email. Scroll down to Account info and there is a line labeled Balance. Below that will be your balance and a link to Make A Payment. That will get you to the payment area. As a dance community, we are aware of how other studios are handling this situation. Each studio is different but we all have the same goal, which is to keep staff in place while being closed.
Parent Portal – The Parent Portal was recently updated to provide two important links: 1) Virtual Classes 2) Class Materials. The Virtual Class link gets you right to your child’s zoom class without having to search for emails or class codes. The Class Materials will soon have Recital Dance Practice Videos as well as other materials your teachers feel you would benefit from. To access these links, log into the Parent Portal, scroll down to Students, tap on View Classes and the buttons will be in the class list.
Recital Dance Practice Videos- Our teachers have been putting a lot of time in outside of class to video recital dance practice videos for the dancers. We are about 75% done and hope to have the rest up soon. These can be found in the Class Materials area of the Parent Portal. Dancers should try to learn the dances in little bits and not all at once.
Zoom Classes- Thank you to everyone that has written to tell us about your experiences with our zoom classes and our teachers. Our staff has done a great job of making these classes meaningful for all of the dancers and in some cases, have been able to do some great things that they normally wouldn’t be able to do in the classroom. For instance, Miss Katie has had two broadway performers speak to her Musical Theater classes about training, auditioning and performing in NYC. We also have noticed that without transition time between classes or waiting for every dancer to go across the floor that we are getting a lot done during classes. It’s been great to see how all of the dancers and teachers have adapted.
Worcester Railers Stimulus Help– An easy and quick way to help… The Worcester Railers will be purchasing a $1000 worth of Gift Cards from Local Businesses that are nominated and chosen. Please help us out and nominate GDA. The link is here: https://railershc.com/smallbusiness/
Bedtime Stories LIVE With Miss Melissa- Join Miss Melissa on Facebook or Youtube weeknights at 7pm for a bedtime story. A great way to settle little ones in before bed. If your dancer needs a pick me up, Miss Melissa does “shout outs” at the start of each night. Send us a message and we can add your dancer to the list. Have a picture or video of your dancer from Spirit Week? Send those in too. We feature those during story time too!
We have said it a number of times, but we can’t thank you enough for your patience as we work through this temporary shut down. It has been difficult for many small businesses and we are grateful that you have stuck with us as we evolved as best we can. As we know more, we will send out more updates. Until then, please continue to social distance, practice good hygiene and stay healthy.
