Dance Team?
Competition Team is open to many students at Greendale Dance Academy who are ready to make dance a larger part of their weekly routine. Most importantly, it is for dancers who want dance to become their primary extracurricular activity and are excited for a stronger commitment to classes, rehearsals, performances, and competitions.
Team dancers perform in front of judges several times each year and compete alongside other dance studios throughout New England. While our dancers have earned Titles, Overall Awards, Judges Awards, Cash Awards, and dance team nominations, the heart of Competition Team is growth, confidence, teamwork, and learning how to support one another on and off the stage.
Current GDA dancers who are interested in dancing competitively can let their teacher know, or parents may contact the office with questions. If your dancer already competes at another studio and is interested in joining Greendale Dance Academy, please reach out so we can discuss placement and arrange an audition if appropriate.
Dancers who hope to join Competition Team can also prepare by building a strong foundation in technique. Ballet classes are especially important, and our class schedule includes options that help dancers develop strength, alignment, flexibility, and control. Our ballet faculty brings excellent training to the classroom, including certification and continuing education in programs such as PBT Ballet and Alixa Flexibility.

and Scheduling
Before the dance year begins, Competition Team families receive a welcome packet with clear, upfront information about competition pricing, due dates, required items, competition dates, and practice schedules.
Our goal is to remove surprises and help families plan ahead. The packet includes expected costs for competitions and team-related items, such as warmup jackets, PBT or Alixa equipment, and any other required purchases, along with important season dates.
We are always happy to answer your questions and help families understand what to expect.
Travel Opportunities
At Greendale Dance Academy, we believe performance is about more than awards. We love giving dancers opportunities to share their hard work with live audiences, build confidence, and experience the joy of performing in different settings.
In addition to competitions, our dancers have performed at community events, nursing homes, sporting events, and other special appearances. GDA dancers have also traveled out of state for memorable performance opportunities at destinations such as Hersheypark, Walt Disney World, and cruise ships.
We are proud of all our Greendale Dance Academy dancers and would love to help your dancer find their place on stage with us.
